Cashmere Official – Interview Recap

DOI: 18/01/2021

Unfortunately Cashmere could not to connect with Prod Rage and fungiFerg on January 7, 2021, so we had the interview rescheduled to be conducted by Jake Emery on January 18, 2021.

Cashmere described his vibe to be a blend of differing genres like: Reggae, Hip-Hop and R&B intertwined with African sounds. He explained that as a child there were numerous artists he and his father would listen to such as: Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs and The Jackson 5 – ultimately inspiring the work he produces today.

He touched on additional influences and purposes as to what have helped him shape his work whilst connecting it to the meaning of the track – ‘Bum Bum’:

“My music, I see the realities that I’m facing and what I see is what I fuse in my music. The realities of whatever I see in todays world is what is shaping my music. When you see ‘Bum Bum’, ‘Bum Bum’ is all about the endowment of African women, it’s trying to tell the world that African women are endowed and how beautiful they are, so that’s what ‘Bum Bum’ is all about.”

Cashmere implied that he is looking forward to collaborate with an array of new artists coming up out of the USA, UK and on a local scale, striving to push his dream to the next level. Relating back to previous interviewees, Jake mentioned fellow Ghanaian artistes, Blak Mexxiah and Shasha Marley, for him to potentially work with – he replied: “Why not, for real, everything’s possible…”

Cashmere stated that he has music in the works to be released in the near future: “I have a Gospel song with an inspirational song coming out very soon, watch out for it, lets maybe say next month or so, it’s coming up, people should watch out for me, there’s more to come.”

Having collaborations and projects in the pipeline accompanied with visuals, 2021 is shaping up to be a huge year for the vibrant talent!

Despite the peculiar and tough situations we all face right now, Cashmere persists with positivity, rooting for everyone to keep pushing through with their heads held high. He concludes by showing love and appreciation to all of his family, friends, loved ones and supporters. A truly humble individual with a bright future forthcoming!
